The Hunter was built by Hawker Siddeley, and was one of the most successful post-war sub-sonic British military aircraft.
First flown in 1951, it saw service with 21 other air forces throughout the world.
Including significant numbers in Denmark, India, Sweden, Switzerland, Singapore and sixty years after its original introduction, it was still in active service with the Lebanese Air Force.
The Hunter broke many records at the time including the world air speed record for Jet aircraft in 1953, reaching a speed of 727.63 mph.
Our aircraft was built as an export version in 1956 for the Royal Danish Air Force. It was delivered to Eskadrille 724. It remained in service with the unit until Eskadrille 724 was disbanded in 1973.
